CNC Machinist / Programmer (Growth Position)

Position Summary


We’re looking for a skilled and motivated CNC Machinist/Programmer with experience or familiarity with Doosan DNM, DVF (3 and 5-axis vertical mills), and Puma (lathe) machines (or similar equivalent machines). This role begins with hands-on programming and machining of customer parts and will expand into leading automation initiatives and driving the adoption of emerging technologies—including AI—to enhance our operations. The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of machining, and programming and is also eager to learn, grow, and embrace innovation, with a passion for advancing into leadership as the business grows. As the company grows, you’ll help manage the shop, contribute to team development, and play a key role in shaping the future of our manufacturing capabilities. Key Responsibilities


Machine Operation & Programming:

  • Program, set up, and operate Doosan 3-axis, 5-axis, and lathe CNC machines (DNM, DVF, and Puma)
  • Create and optimize CNC programs using CAM software to ensure accuracy and efficiency
  • Read and interpret CAD drawings, and technical designs to program using CAM software
  • Utilize advanced CAM software (Fusion360, MasterCAM, SolidWorks) for efficient and precise production
  • Initially, support programming, setup, fixture/work-holding design including soft jaws, and execution of customer orders
  • Ensure consistent focus and prioritization on the timely fulfillment of customer orders

Automation Implementation:

  • Collaborate on developing and integrating automation solutions to optimize production workflows
  • Provide input and support during the adoption of robotic systems and AI-driven manufacturing enhancements


Quality and Precision:

  • Inspect finished components using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
  • Maintain adherence to high-quality standards, ensuring all components meet specified tolerances and requirements


Team Development and Leadership:

  • Demonstrate willingness and capability to grow into a managerial role, taking responsibility for hiring, training, and leading a skilled machining team as the business expands


Continuous Improvement:

  • Participate actively in discussions around workflow optimization, technology upgrades, and improvements in efficiency and quality
  • Embrace ongoing professional development and skills enhancement

Qualifications

Minimum Skills Required

    • Completion of a certified Machinist Program or Equivalent industry experience
    • Proficiency in CNC machine operation and programming (basic understanding of G-code, FANUC controls and Renishaw inspection probes)
    • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software (Fusion360, MasterCAM, SolidWorks)
    • Familiarity with Schunk work holding solutions and basic fixturing knowledge
    • Strong mechanical aptitude and precision machining skills
    • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and organizational habits
    • Willingness to be self-motivated to learn and be open to new approaches and ideas
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in an active production environment
    • Follow company safety protocols, including maintaining clean walkways and minimizing hazards in the production area.


Preferred Experience 

    • Prior experience with Doosan 3-axis, 5-axis CNC mills and lathes
    • Experience or interest in automation and collaborative robotic systems
    • Leadership potential and a desire to step into a shop management role as we grow
